About Kathy Miller

Kathy grew up in Michigan and earned her BA and MA from Michigan State University and her PhD from the University of Southern California. In her three-decade career as a professor, she taught, mentored, and conducted research in the areas of organizational, family, and health communication. She is the author of scores of journal articles, several textbooks, and the nonfiction War Makes Men of Boys: A Soldier’s World War Two.

Kathy now sees herself as a recovering academic and writes historical fiction for adults and young adults and narrative nonfiction for kids of all ages. She lives in Plymouth, Minnesota with two sister cats, Molly and Friggly. When she’s not writing or reading, she’s playing the piano, cross-stitching, whipping up a pizza, or trying to craft the perfect bourbon cocktail.
